The Art of Suffering Well

Every year in February, people celebrate World Cancer Day, Rheumatoid Awareness Day, Deworming Day and Day for the Sick. What rewards do these conditions offer a person? What else is there besides misery and pain? Why should there be sorrow and pain? This involves many people, not just one. How would it feel to have good suffering management skills? According to Vietnamese poet, peace activist and global spiritual leader, Thich Nhat Hanh, “If you know how to suffer well, you suffer much less.” To find out how to handle suffering with less pain, read Dr. Monica Gulati’s article, ‘The Art of Suffering Well’.

Sri Aurobindo: A New Dawn - Republic Day Greetings!

An inspirational animation film ‘Sri Aurobindo: A New Dawn’ is being made by Sri Aurobindo Society for the youth of India and the world, on Sri Aurobindo’s life, as an offering for the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo.

Sri Aurobindo gave a greater purpose to India’s independence and emphasised repeatedly of the need for complete freedom as the first condition for India to recover her spiritual freedom and become the beacon of a new Light for other nations too. During the years of 1906–1910, it was the mantra of his life.

In celebration of India’s Republic day which is a reminder of a new beginning for the country, it is inspiring to recall Sri Aurobindo’s call to the youth of India:

It is the young who must be the builders of the new world,—not those who accept the competitive individualism, the capitalism or the materialistic communism of the West as India’s future ideal, nor those who are enslaved to old religious formulas and cannot believe in the acceptance and transformation of life by the spirit, but all who are free in mind and heart to accept a completer truth and labour for a greater ideal.”

Join hands to make this inspirational film !

AuroPublications

AuroPublications, the publications division of the Sri Aurobindo Society, publishes spiritually themed books and creates multimedia and audio-visual products with deep insights and values. There is a special focus on Integral Yoga and the vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.

The quintessence of Integral Health lies in a change of consciousness from the outer physical, vital and mental fixations to this deeper psychic consciousness. The psychic consciousness is free from psychological disturbances and helps to build up an integrated personality. It is also free from the subsconscient and egocentric disturbances and immune from attacks by adverse forces.

This book is essentially a consciousness approach to health, based on the vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. It lucidly brings out the correspondence between the different planes of consciousness and their relation to health and illness.
