The best principles in our lives were those which we heard from our mothers through our ears

Motherhood: Creating a Conscious Humanity
April 11 is celebrated as the National Safe Motherhood Day. Motherhood is not merely a physical status that needs to be supported with care. In humankind, it, therefore has a profound potential not only to determine the continuity of the human species on this earth but also to shape the essence of it. Our ancient texts and scriptures provide deep insights on Conscious birthing where the process of ideal motherhood begins in the pre-conception phase and. Discover a few tenets of the concept that could help propagate human evolution in the article Creating a Conscious Humanity.

The Readers’ Column
Harvinder Kaur is an educator, poet, writer, speaker, musician, and many more things. But mostly she is a sensitive dreamer with an eye to perceive beauty and uniqueness even if it is hidden under sheaths of the ordinary. Here is her reverie on flamingoes that thronged the cosmopolitan city of Mumbai during the pandemic. Enjoy the Wings of Fire!
Wings of fire
Wings in the air, become breath, become freedom… we watch them from behind masked faces and envious eyes. When did we last fly like that, if ever? The Corona wave has shown humans what needed to be seen for a long, long time – that we are a part of the ecosystem and there are those that are more powerful than us, a tiny virus for instance.
Winter in India is beautiful for many reasons, my favourite being that so many beautiful birds come from colder climes from all over the world to enjoy the gentle winter sun here, breed and then fly back when it’s warmer. Some of our feathery friends come from as far as Siberia after flying thousands of miles, to rest their feet and wings on the warm soil of India and feel the sun on their backs. I love flamingos the most with their enflamed wings of fire, their curvaceous necks, their soft pink hue of love… The lockdown in 2020 that caged humans, encouraged 1.5 lakh flamingos to gather in Navi Mumbai alone!
How they inspire us to live without boundaries, taking life as it comes, travelling far, yet lightly… come again and again!

A man in a hot air balloon
A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted,” Excuse me, can you help? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am.”
The woman below replied, “You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude.”
“You must be an engineer,” said the balloonist.
“I am,” replied the woman. “How did you know?”

“Well,” answered the balloonist, “everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of you, and the fact is I am still lost. Frankly, you’ve not been much help so far.” The woman below responded, “You must be in management.” “I am,” replied the balloonist, “but how did you know?” “Well,” said the woman, “you don’t know where you are or where you are going. You have risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it’s my fault!”
